did you create the Denisovan page?

[edit]

Dear Hiberiantears,First off, I am sorry if I am contacting you in the wrong conduct. I am no wikipedian, and so I am unsure of if creating a new page is the correct way to make contact.Anyhow, I'll get straight to the point. I am a social researcher at Linköping University in Sweden. I am interested in knowledge production in regards to the history of human evolution. I am mapping important contributions linked to new discoveries in the field of evolutionary anthropology, and how they are spread to the public. I am curious, did you create the page for the Denisovan? (linked below) If you did, would you be willing to answer a few questions about the procedure of creating such a page? I would be so very grateful if you would help me.

I have linked my contacts below,

Hi Mattis - Yes I created that page some years back. If I remember accurately, I believe that I ran across the announcement of the discovery in the news. I then checked to see if we had an article that directly covered the topic. Upon seeing that we did not already have an article, I then proceeded to create a stub and build it up to a point that enough credible sources were included and notability of the subject was established to prevent any rapid deletion of the article. My "final" version of the article washere and from that point on the community built it up to where it is today.Hiberniantears (talk)15:44, 20 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much for your response! You have been of great help. Would it be alright with you if I quote your account of events in my research? Also, I may have some further questions, would you be interested in answering them via email?best, Mattis130.236.159.35 (talk)11:29, 21 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Administrator account security (Correction to Arbcom 2019 special circular)

[edit]

ArbCom would like to apologise and correct our previous mass message in light of the response from the community.

Since November 2018, six administrator accounts have been compromised and temporarily desysopped. In an effort to help improve account security, our intention was to remind administrators of existing policies on account security — that they arerequired to "have strong passwords andfollow appropriate personal security practices." We haveupdated our procedures to ensure that we enforce these policies more strictly in the future. The policies themselves have not changed. In particular,two-factor authentication remains anoptional means of adding extra security to your account. The choice not to enable 2FA will not be considered when deciding to restore sysop privileges to administrator accounts that were compromised.

We are sorry for the wording of our previous message, which did not accurately convey this, and deeply regret the tone in which it was delivered.

For the Arbitration Committee, -Cameron1159821:03, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Meant to place a note here earlier. Thanks for the update. I currently use 2fa.Hiberniantears (talk)20:56, 10 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Featuring your work on Wikipedia's front page: DYKs

[edit]

Thank you for your recent articles, includingPiłsudski Tank, which I read with interest. When you create an extensive and well referenced article, you may want to have it featured on Wikipedia's main page in theDid You Know section. Articles included there will be read by thousands of our viewers. To do so, add your article to the list atT:TDYK. Let me know if you need help,Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here09:00, 18 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! Although in fairness I could use some help cleaning up the references since I appear to have made a mess of them when I brought the content over from the Polish language article.Hiberniantears (talk)17:49, 18 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Pending suspension of administrative permissions due to inactivity

Because you have been inactive, your administrative permissions will be removed if you do not return to activity within the next month.
