Siamese Dream

[edit]

I will avoid reverting perWP:BRD andWP:STATUSQUO, but personally, I think the phrasing of "frontman" is a bit too colloquial for an encyclopedia articles. Additionally, you removed multiple definite articles I added to the page that make it more grammatical -- seeWP:FALSETITLE for further information.JeffSpaceman (talk)20:34, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You said that you would avoid reverting but then you did it anyway. You're wrapping up small grammatical changes with an edit that reduces Billy Corgan's role in the band to "singer." I urge you to undo those changes, or we will have to find administrative intervention.hbent (talk)

You are correct, I should have waited for a response from you, and I have reverted per your comment. Can we please discuss this change, though? Once again, I think "frontman" is too colloquial for an encyclopedia article, while "singer" is more formal English. Similarly, you removed multiple definite articles I added to the page -- see the essay linked above as to why I added definite articles. I am asking for your input: why should "frontman" be included instead of the more formal "singer," and what's the problem with the presence of the definite articles I added? Please explain, as I would like to know your problem with these two changes. Thank you.JeffSpaceman (talk)13:37, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Matplotlib

[edit]

Example gallery on Matplotlib page is "too big" according to which policy? In my opinion the deleted examples are more informative and useful than the only one remaining in the page or in the collage of the infobox.Ttmms (talk)09:26, 24 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

WP:NOTGALLERYhbent (talk)12:29, 24 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Hbent,WP:NOTGALLERY statesPhotographs or media files with no accompanying text. Which does not apply to this because The pictures in this articles did include a description and I believe they are in compliance withMOS:IMAGEREL.VeritasVanguard08:14, 25 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I think you're missing the point. There was no "encyclopedic context" for the pictures, they were all just unsourced and unsubstantiated pictures of things that the software could do. Wikipedia is not for promotion, and it is not a manual.hbent (talk)08:28, 25 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Hbent What do you mean by 'remove nn' in your edit summaries?VeritasVanguard10:18, 25 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
WP:NN. Shorthand for "non-notable."hbent (talk)10:21, 25 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@HbentThe notability guideline does not apply to the contents of articles.VeritasVanguard10:30, 25 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Hbent I have said this once, and am gonna say it again.

The notability guideline does not apply to the contents of articles perWP:NOTEWORTHY

What you are doing is considered to be enforcing your own Point of View, And Not accepting any other. You should engage in meaningful conversations, and What is non-notable to you, may not be for others.VeritasVanguard15:50, 5 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If you wish to continue the conversation about Matplotlib, please do it in the more public venue ofTalk:Matplotlib.hbent (talk)15:53, 5 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Hbent, I also don't see howWP:NOTGALLERY should apply to this case. Neither I see how the content of this article, example gallery included, fails to be notable, given the popularity of that software library. It is downloaded~70M times every months, it one of thetop 200 most popular python packages, it has been used to create more than3k plots used in commons.Ttmms (talk)11:38, 25 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Well then it shouldn't be very hard to find some secondary sources to support those images, should it?hbent (talk)18:39, 25 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
