October music

[edit]
story ·music ·places

Mystory today is about a woman and her husband who played Bach'sSonatina for us (Rheingau Musik Festival, long ago)on an upright piano, and it made me cry, and I still remember. --Gerda Arendt (talk)10:42, 1 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the thanks ;) - if you have time to improve the singer you created further (this is fine) go ahead, - I go to the opera ;) --(forgot to sign yesterday)

Thank you for your contributions toCarl Nielsen, remembered on the main page! Mystory on the Germany National holiday is a song callingto trust the new ways, written shortly before the events leading to reunification. I sawa lovely Mozart opera production yesterday, in case of interest. --Gerda Arendt (talk)14:06, 3 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Had forgotten about that, well remembered!♦Dr. Blofeld19:09, 3 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I just saw it, - don't know who put Nielsen up. Or did you mean the singer? Will have to do the additions myself, it seems. --Gerda Arendt (talk)19:44, 3 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Both! ♦Dr. Blofeld04:12, 4 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I see ;) - I expanded myself, also the lead, - he's on the main page now, but the recordings still look sloppy. I'm under some pressure on FAC so may not get to it ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk)08:24, 4 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
With him, a completely different operatoday, - there are youtubes of all three acts of the 100-year-old opera with a young Abbado. --Gerda Arendt (talk)21:09, 4 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
A goodstory for a Sunday:Martin Neary conducting Purcell. --Gerda Arendt (talk)10:14, 5 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I nominated him for GA, hoping that the recordings section will get better until someone looks. - 3 RD bios on the main page, one of them DYK, and I even like the hook (not by me). --Gerda Arendt (talk)07:44, 6 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Would you have time to expandLotte Ledl? - I have plans fortoday andtomorrow and will look then. --Gerda Arendt (talk)12:32, 7 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
This is a translation of the German Wikipedia article but it's not very informative and unsourced: After graduating from high school, she attended the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna from 1949 to 1951 and made her debut as Helena in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream in Strobl. Lotte Ledl then performed at the Volkstheater from 1952 onward, later at the Theater am Parkring and the Residenztheater in Munich. In 1963, she became a member of the Burgtheater. She also performed at the Ruhr Festival, the Bregenz Festival, and the Salzburg Festival. Lotte Ledl had appeared in numerous film roles since the 1950s. She rarely portrayed clearly lovable characters, usually playing the jealous rival, the simple-minded maid, the difficult wife, or the spiteful neighbor. Since the 1960s, she also appeared in numerous television plays and series. Her last major role was that of cook Anna Kofler in the entertainment series Schlosshotel Orth. ♦Dr. Blofeld19:17, 7 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Happy birthday,Margaret Medlyn! (I found the article - not by me - when searching for someone whose birthday is today.) - I took acat pic, presented by Rosiestep today. --Gerda Arendt (talk)15:44, 7 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Happy 50th birthday, Alain Altinoglu!) - I let the video begin with a closeup of the octobass ;) - Thank you for what you did for Ledl, - had to take a baritone today because he was a red link for the other ;)Gerda Arendt (talk)18:32, 9 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
As for Ledl, if we want to get her to the main page, there are two options: RD and DYK, and we can actually have both. For both, the prose should be a little longer and the films should be referenced. To achieve the latter, there are also two options: move the (giant) list of mostly German titles to a different list article, or not. What of it remains in the biography has to be referenced, and would be better if it came with more information such as directors, colleagues, and a translation of the title before a click on the German helps to that ;) - Do we want to do go for it? For RD, we should nominate tomorrow. For only DYK, the 7 days begin with the 5*times expansion which was a bit later, but I'm too tired to look. --Gerda Arendt (talk)21:09, 9 October 2025 (UTC) -[reply]
Update: I found two refs for the long list, and suggest that we improve it in the biography and decide in the end if its better to separate it. How is that? The bio is ready to be nominated. --Gerda Arendt (talk)12:20, 10 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Good job on the list and condensing/sourcing for the main article. I will try to add some more prose tomorrow. ♦Dr. Blofeld20:18, 10 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
A pleasant surprise, to see it the next day! -Liliom: the link is good for nothing because the TV adaption from the Burgtheater is not mentioned in the English version. Should we? - Similarly:Roda Roda. --Gerda Arendt (talk)11:35, 11 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Next actress, sadly:Wanda Perdelwitz, much more in German. - I'm busy with a clarinetist who died the same day. --Gerda Arendt (talk)11:42, 11 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Next actress, sadlyDiane Keaton! ♦Dr. Blofeld13:52, 12 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, sad, but as I saw in good hands. Thank you so much for your help with Ledl: I am proud to have brought two performing women to the main page. Sadly, death kept both from performing more, one sooner, the other much later. If you have little time just listen to the one who died young and see if it touches you (intoday's story, - I don't want to sprinkle youtube links outside my user pages). I worked onan interesting bio yesterday, and while today's video is serious, I found one for children for him, - well, serious also. Keep watching. - Latest pics from a day to the opera in Frankfurt, and afterwards (because train service is only once an hour) a lovely stroll along the Main river with illumination and the moon reflected. --Gerda Arendt (talk)19:11, 12 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Perdelwitz is on now. I feel that the one Traumschiff episode (#100) should be mentioned in the body (not only in the list), and there are sources. I, however, have company coming, for the week, and it would be good now while "the world" is watching". She had more views the first day (and that was article creation) than most of the others who died. In English, to my surprise, while no source is in English (besides that automatic translation of Kronen Zeitung which isn't in the article because it's so bad). --Gerda Arendt (talk)15:27, 14 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
In German, she had 210k views after she died. --Gerda Arendt (talk)15:30, 14 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please help destubbingBernhard Klee? --Gerda Arendt (talk)08:21, 15 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Baffling why a conductor of his standing was still a stub. If the transwiki is too bloated for you to work with no worries but looks like there's a lot of good material in there which can be salvaged. The sources are translated and may need restoring back to original German titles. ♦Dr. Blofeld14:06, 15 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
What you did was just great! I'll look for details as much as I can, - company, as said. Already nominated, so we should make the top look decent ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk)19:39, 15 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Danke. Most of the red links which have articles seem unsourced or poorly sourced. I would transwiki a few if they were sourced.♦Dr. Blofeld17:20, 16 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
ill is an invitation to translate and source, - I did it without reading here. I consolidated the refs. Too much is offline for my taste, but at least it looks decent. I knew von Lewinski, for example (not personally, but as a writer of reviews of concerts we sang, and always to the point). --Gerda Arendt (talk)18:41, 16 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Can I interest you in theDouble Concerto by Brahms, a piece I heard twice this year - see music. --Gerda Arendt (talk)18:35, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Klaus Doldinger has a poor article, - could you translate more? I first need to look atLuciano Berio, to be 100 and missing refs. --Gerda Arendt (talk)08:08, 20 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for improving article quality in October. My latest:Roberta Alexander, -listen. - I did a bit for both of the others, and Grimes2 helped. --Gerda Arendt (talk)20:36, 20 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Can't believe thatToshio Hosokawa is 70 already.Gerda Arendt (talk)20:06, 23 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I guess at least he's not dead. :-)♦Dr. Blofeld06:34, 24 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No need to guess when we have an article ;) - Today's centenarian, however, is dead. First time I wrote a story with a red link. --Gerda Arendt (talk)07:44, 24 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
TodaySequenza III onLuciano Berio's centenary. You can listen with the score or to the first performer,Cathy Berberian (link in the work's article), - I couldn't decide ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk)19:59, 24 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Elsa Reger on her birthday --Gerda Arendt (talk)19:06, 25 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Can you add an infobox and talk page tags toAnabel Montesinos? And myUser:Dr. Blofeld/Missing articles is getting low, lots of red links in the Montesinos article too! :-) ♦Dr. Blofeld13:04, 26 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Heard ofWolfgang Lendle? ♦Dr. Blofeld14:25, 26 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Montesinos done, one link was blue, just other name, there may be more of that kind but I have no time right now. Thanks for her article! Too bad I have no good image, was too far away. - No, never heard (of) Lendle yet. -Benita Valente died, I did the most urgent cosmetics, but couldn't help yet (and can't today, and bzzt) that the whole article was taken from Bach Cantatas which in turn is a translation from de, copyvio twice, in a way. I'll do it tomorrow if nobody beats me to it. I have two articles nominated for DYK (one actually approved, imagine) which were not complete when nominated, - that's what I want to do next. Chilly and stormy day, - remembering fondlythe warm night when she played open air! --Gerda Arendt (talk)15:47, 26 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks.Lendle Bach Doubleconcerto, 1st movement Allegro here. ♦Dr. Blofeld16:11, 26 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Break

[edit]

Hiya! Had to take a bit of a break but I am back. How's life? Note that most nerdy people are able to do this kinda stuff; I may be a genius but the fact that I can wrangle lists of Wikipedia usernames is not conclusive evidence one way or the other.Polygnotus (talk)19:13, 9 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, glad you're back! I'm thinking of running an Asia-Oceania Destubathon/article creation contest in November. Can you come up with an A-Z list of active users from WikiProjects/articles spanning those countries? ♦Dr. Blofeld10:12, 11 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The Alien333 guy hada trick for that. Of course Oceania has a population of less than ~50m, while Asia has a population of ~4.8b so you gotta take that into account if you want to ensure at least some of the people are actually from Oceania. You can then useUser:Polygnotus/Scripts/FilterInactiveOrBlocked.js to filter duplicates and those who are inactive or blocked.Polygnotus (talk)10:59, 11 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The editors don't have to be from there, but just active with topics from Asia or Oceania! ♦Dr. Blofeld11:47, 11 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
areactuallyfrom Oceania

actuallyedit Oceania-relatedarticles
Polygnotus (talk)11:52, 11 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No idea how to use it to generate a list, can you do it? ♦Dr. Blofeld12:56, 12 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
WP:VPT will teach you how to fish. Show themQuarry 94186 andQuarry 95322. Or maybe ping our alien overlords.Polygnotus (talk)14:13, 12 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
