Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploadingImage:FabrizioGiovanardi.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used underfair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails ourfirst fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go tothe media description page and edit it to add{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}},without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. Onthe image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking onthis link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use media which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per ourFair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at theMedia copyright questions page. Thank you.Rettetast (talk)17:42, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:MarkProctor.jpg

Thank you for uploadingImage:MarkProctor.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required byWikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available fromWikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as animage copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

Orphaned non-free media (Image:MattNeal.jpg)

Thanks for uploadingImage:MattNeal.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under aclaim of fair use. However, it is currentlyorphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (seeour policy for non-free media).

Promotion and Relegation

Although many of the issues about what division a team will play in next season are now certain, they do not become members of that division or league until the Football League's official changeover date (I believe 1st June). Please desist from changing team's league status until that date. It is not for an encyclopeadia to pre-empt the appropriate authority.Kevin McE (talk)23:13, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

Sprint Cup Standings

Hey Cs-wolves do you plan on keeping the Point Standings table updated on the2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series page? Just curious because I don't think anyone else is going to. Also I removed the flag icons to make it more readable, hope its not a problem.--KaseyKahneFan18:27, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Tables

Hi Craig;
I saw the table you formatted in2008 IndyCar Series season, congratulations for your job. You did it directly in the "code" or you use any external editor or something like this? If you can give me any tip I'll appreciate very much. Regards,Caiaffa (talk)02:34, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

2007 Kansas Lottery Indy 300

Hi!
I appreciate all the work you have done on the 2007 IndyCar series minor race articles, but I don't understand why you keep reverting edits I have made in the header to the 2007 Kansas Lottery Indy 300 article. I understand that is the only article absolutely stating the winner and polesitter, but if that was the only reason, I was going to do that to every article to make it uniform. Sometimes, all people want to read is the header, so I thought it would be a good idea to sum it up there. I am going to revert the edit, but if you're answer makes sense, I'll leave it alone. I don't want to start any edit wars.MeisfunnyOh yeah!16:01, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for understanding. I guess that's a pretty big job, so maybe we should back off that now. Altough I knowRoyalbroil has a bot and is part of the project. He might be able to do it automated with the bot. Let me know what you think on my page.MeisfunnyOh yeah!23:03, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

AOWR driver results aesthetics

I noticed you reverted things on the Jay Howard and 2008 IndyCar season pages to what they were before. A clarification, perhaps, can sort out at least a few concepts on why I changed things to look the way they did.

Aesthetically, I see having the flags be on top as a way of both keeping a nice row, straight edges, etc., for at least a drop further ease on viewing eyes, but I've also been using it as a marking for what was the most recently updated race. All the races that have not yet been run, I don't push to the top with the "<br><small> </small>" syntax. Also, whomever first put in the asterisk on Howard's page, that I removed in favor of the "Rpl" reference, wanted to make clear that he never in fact got a qualification attempt before Roth, team owner, removed him in favor ofAndretti. Not wanting to just mow down this other user is the source of creating the Rpl (which after a third consideration, should admittedly be blank, not White, in background color).

In any case, both the Howard page and soon enough the flag syntax are being brought up in theWP:AOWR talk page, so if you have objections, by all means please voice them there. Thank you in advance for reading this. --Chr.K. (talk)16:42, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

News from the diamond
From the Editors

Baseball has a history unlike any other sport. It has been played in countless countries throughout the decades, and it will undoubtedly continue play for many more. On this eve, some the finest players the sport has to offer will take the field at theYankee Stadium. Fourpopes spoke there,Pelé scored goals there, "The Greatest [football] Game Ever Played" was battled out there,John Philip Sousa lead a band there,George Costanza worked there; but what do all these events have in common? They fail to reach the level of greatness that the baseball that was played there did.

In 1923, a man namedBabe Ruth decided to build a new house, and over the years, that house was a home to some of the greatest baseball ever played. If I were to list out all of these great moments, it would be longer than the bill for theNew Yankee Stadium. So I'll sum it up by saying that we can remember these great moments by adding them tothis place we've gathered at for future generations to read about, to learn about, to dream about; but more importantly we can watch tonight and we can remember how baseball is unlike anything else that we will encounter in our lives. —Blackngold29

Article of the month: Forti (current GA candidate)

Forti Corse, commonly known asForti, was anItalianmotor racing team chiefly known for its brief, and unsuccessful, involvement inFormula One in the mid-1990s. It was established in the 1970s and competed in lower formulae for two decades, with some success. The team graduated to F1 as aconstructor andentrant in1995 and continued into1996, before succumbing to financial problems mid-season. The team competed in a total of 27 Grands Prix, scoring no points, and is recognised as one of the last truly privateer teams to race in an era when many largecar manufacturers were increasing their involvement in the sport.

Article of the month -Max Mosley, recently relisted as aGood Article

Max Rufus Mosley (born April 13, 1940) ispresident of theFédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), a non-profit association that represents the interests of motoring organisations and car users worldwide. The FIA is also the governing body forFormula One and other internationalmotorsports.

Mosley is a formerbarrister and amateur racing driver, and a founder and co-owner ofMarch Engineering, a successful racing car constructor andFormula One racing team. He looked after legal and commercial issues for the company between 1969 and 1977. In the late 1970s, Mosley became the official legal adviser to theFormula One Constructors Association (FOCA), the body which represents the Formula One teams. In this role he drew up the first version of theConcorde Agreement, which settled adispute between FOCA and theFédération Internationale du Sport Automobile (FISA), the governing body of Formula One. Mosley was elected president of FISA in 1991 and became president of the FIA, FISA's parent body, in 1993. Mosley has identified his major achievement as FIA President as being the promotion of theEuropean New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP or Encap), a Europeancar safety performance assessment programme. He has also promoted increased safety and the use of green technologies in motor racing. In 2008, Mosley retained his position after stories about his sex life appeared in the British press.

Mosley is the son of SirOswald Mosley, former leader of theBritish Union of Fascists (BUF), andDiana Mitford. He was educated inFrance,Germany and Britain before going on to attend university atChrist Church, Oxford where he graduated with a degree inphysics. In his teens and early twenties Mosley was involved with his father's post-war party, theUnion Movement (UM). He has said that the association of his surname with fascism stopped him from developing his interest in politics further, although he briefly worked for theConservative Party in the early 1980s.

    List of 2008 motorsport champions

Is this years tabular layout better than last years bullet point version? --Falcadore (talk)23:39, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

I didn't agree with separating them last year. It was only really done last year because of the opinion of a single edittor. The title certainly includes them. --Falcadore (talk)20:19, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
