Castles

[edit]

Feel free to create a list of German castles I stubbed in 2009 which need expanding. A lot of the stubs were really placeholders to get people to develop the content but sadly the interest in Germany from Anglophone countries is very limited.♦Dr. Blofeld08:01, 20 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Is there not content on the German wikipedia that you can work from?SpartazHumbug!08:20, 20 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, in some cases. I've tagged those that have sourced articles. I'll work on it in November, during theBacklog Drive Project.Bearian (talk)12:02, 20 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

PROD onPrivate Line (band)

[edit]

Hi @Bearian - you PRODdedPrivate Line (band) earlier for lack of references. I had a look at it and the chart positions and multiple albums published on JVC check out, so per NBAND it's probably notable. I think it's worth taking it to AfD instead.Adam Sampson (talk)00:06, 23 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

That's great, but it's a BLP, so it needs reliable sources.Bearian (talk)00:08, 23 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Notability tags on film articles

[edit]

Hello and thank you for your concern regarding a number of unsourced articles. You tagged for notability quite a few film articles recently and most of them were notable in my view; I added sources to most of them. For the record, in general, unsourced film stubs created by Dr. Blofeld, Lord Cornwallis and Lugnuts, -to cite only three of the most prolific page creators on this website- are, from my experience, almost always notable. In very rare cases, they can be redirected to the director -or to a list, at worst, because off-line sources are hard to check.I am inviting you to check the sources in corresponding articles in other languages when they exist, when you find such articles lacking sources; if you don't have the possibility to do so and really think those films do not appear notable, please consider adding the category Film(s)/Movie(s) in the template by adding one of those keywords in the parameter1=film; seeTemplate:Notability#Parameters, to avoid having them lost among the ocean of unsorted articles with topics of unclear notability; this is a way to put them on the radar of interested users, who may thus solve the problem more rapidly. Thank you for your attention to this matter!e.ux23:01, 29 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Eva UX Got it. Thanks for doing that.Bearian (talk)23:54, 29 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question aboutIrene Estrada article

[edit]

Hiya! I saw you left a comment on theAfD discussion for Irene Estrada, expressing that there was low-quality local sources used in the article that could be removed through the normal editing process. I created this article, and am not all that familiar with the intracicies of local newspapers in the Bronx. I appreciate that you might not have the time, especially given that the article might be removed, but could you tell me which sources in specific you think should be removed or are less reliable? I'd like to improve the article and it would be helpful to know of any shortcomings :) --LivelyRatification (talk)21:30, 22 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@LivelyRatification - every one of the local Bronx media except for the Bronx Press-Review and Channel 12 are unreliable.Bearian (talk)22:08, 22 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Panamericana (film)

[edit]

Hey, thanks for adding a reflist. I was still working on the article, though, and your edits caused an edit conflict. I suggest not being quite so hasty with changing the tags after a ref is added; I deliberately waited to remove the tag because the first source I added was not very good (it only mentioned the film in a passing comment of a few words).Toadspike[Talk]10:47, 28 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your contributions toPolonium dichloride dibromide. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time becauseWeak, inaccessible, or non-existent sourcing for key details, and generally just apparent remnants of AI slop.doi:10.1039/jr9550003959 might have info, but is it notable even with that?.I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Some have no references, such as:Comparison between Ido and InterlinguaMost have tags from 10+ years ago.A couple are referenced, such asComparison between Esperanto and Ido, but the references seem to be mainly in Esperanto, so I can't check them. a draft related to wiki legal project

[edit]

Hi! I saw that you are active on the Wiki project in law and wanted to ask if you could take a look at the article I have been advocating to approve:Draft:Winston Weinberg

It is absurd to me, coming from a journalism background, that high-profile sources from reputable media are being so blandly overviewed. There have also been suggestions to merge the article, which does not make any sense, as it is inconsistent with Wikipedia’s practices for articles about company founders. The subject is the founder of the biggest legal tech company in the world, and he has been widely recognized in legacy media. I also added 2 books as sources.

It is counterproductive and ignorant to expect industry professionals to have media coverage about anything other than their professional background, and there are no Wikipedia policies that require this. There are 23 sources in total in the article, as they all support different information, and I do not want to delete them since they actually cite verifiable facts.WestwoodHights573 (talk)06:48, 6 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

It's under review by another editor, so I'm hesitant to get involved.Bearian (talk)12:15, 6 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I think it is okay if someone from the domain participates too. We are having a discussion on his page and I was just explaining what USC law school was.User talk:SmokeyJoe#c-SmokeyJoe-20260106084700-WestwoodHights573-20260106074900WestwoodHights573 (talk)19:52, 6 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Bearian! smokeyjoe told me that they do not have the time to review the article. We have established 2 more suitable sources for the GNG on their talk page, with the last source I discussed being the Observer, that needs to be reviewed. It's here,User talk:SmokeyJoe#draft, and the main discussion is here.Draft talk:Winston Weinberg
It says that you have a law degree and I think you are the best person to ask to take a look at it. For instance, an admin outside of the legal fields, has questions like "how does x know he was a promising lawyer?", etc. I think it would be more productive if someone that knows more about the industry looks into it. This is the page about the founder of the biggest legal tech Harvey. Would you like to review the Observer and other sources we discussed for the GNG? Thanks in advance for your time!WestwoodHights573 (talk)18:37, 7 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion review forCraig Wilde

[edit]

An editor has asked fora deletion review ofCraig Wilde. Because you closed the deletion discussion for this page, speedily deleted it, or otherwise were interested in the page, you might want to participate in the deletion review.Nilton72 (talk)16:41, 8 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

“Requesting review of the deletion of ‘Craig Wilde’, which existed for over 14 years. The subject has substantial independent coverage in reliable secondary sources. The article’s longevity indicates established notability; concerns appear to relate to sourcing/tone rather than eligibility. The page may have required edits to bring it to a standard - rather than deletion."Nilton72 (talk)16:46, 8 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Nilton72, I can't find any link to that request.Bearian (talk)17:19, 8 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
There was a discussion,Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Craig Wilde, which closed over a month ago. In no system of justice is there more than 30 days to appeal. Based upon my comments, no, I won't go along with any such appeal. As I indicated in the link I provided, this is literally a case of us versus him: if we allow pages created for profit, then our charitable status will be eliminated, crippling our organization and thus destroying the entire Wikipedia ecosystem. So, absolutely hard no. Go away.Bearian (talk)18:59, 8 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Bearian. You added a{{Notability}} template toIvyWise back in August 2025 to go along with the{{COI}} template that had previously been added by someone else back in 2010. Both of those tags were removed by a new SPA account (who might be connected to IvyWise) who recently has been expanding the article. Redirecting geographic stubs

[edit]

I'm not sure that I'm convinced of the usefulness of this. You've redirectedAetna, Sharp County, Arkansas toCave City, Arkansas; these are about 6 miles away from each other. Aetna is not mentioned at the Cave City article and likely never will be, as it's not the same subject. According to Google Maps,Harmony, Wyoming is a good 15-20 miles away from Laramie - these are clearly separate communities. Harmony's article mentioned Laramie as where the students where shipped off to high school, but that's becausethe local school district covers the entire county and according to our article only operates three high schools. These communities have no real connection to where they're being redirected other than being kinda close, and what readers are left with are confusing, unhelpful redirects that point to places that make no mention of the redirect subject. I think this outcome is worse than a redlink.Hog FarmTalk01:18, 1 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. Harmony literally shares a ZIP code, high school, Roman Catholic parish, WalMart, and county with Laramie, where my sister lives; everything is spread out in Wyoming. Same with all the other redirects that I've done. I *always* do several BEFORE searches before redirecting, including looking for city/county boundaries, post offices, amenities, and driving directions. Aetna is in the same ZIP code and county as Cave City. I haven't redirected all the communities I've seen, because some of them don't have a good enough redirect target. I do keep in mind that our core readership will be looking for, for example, South Succotash, which I might redirect to Micropolitan City. You're free to take any of them to AfD. I'm rarely 100% convinced that anything I do is right.Bearian (talk)02:02, 1 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

PRODs

[edit]

Can I suggest checking on PRODs. As one examplesAndrew Honeycutt was a clear target for a pileon of PRODs from a team of IPs who were perhaps the same person. As president of a for-profit university (from BEFORE) there is enough of a notability claim for AfD.Ldm1954 (talk)15:31, 2 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Ldm1954, I check bothWP:AfD andCAT:PROD most days, unless caretaking takes me away from WiFi. Depending on the article, I second it, deprod it, find sources, or just move on.
I got flamed on my talk page this weekend (see above) for redirecting prodded articles. Back in October 2025 (see above) I tried to fix a backlog of Prods by temporarily removing the tags, but likewise I was flamed by several users. I'm close to giving up on the whole thing.
As far as the specific case, it's safe for now. If you want to resolve the issue, you can take it preemptively to AfD. I did that recently with a law stub, but I don't want to be accused of canvassing.Bearian (talk)16:50, 2 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. I think the immediate issue of minimum, poor sourcing has been resolved. I seconded it because it was a poorly sourced BLP.Powerful interests from Texas, Palm Beach, and New Delhi want to use badly sourced BLPs as an excuse to destroy us.Bearian (talk)17:04, 2 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Bearian, I get flamed by assorted people. Some of these are experienced but less than polite editors, some have been socks etc. I normally consider this a sign that I am doing a decent job of NPP/monitoring.
Politics at the moment is a mess; I am alternately encouraged and depressed about what is going on in Minnesota, more could be said.Ldm1954 (talk)17:08, 2 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, an interesting read, and I see your point. There's also the worry of the UK Online Safety Act, which threatens to throw the baby of Wikipedia out with the putrid bathwater. I also worry about the number of 15-year-old articles which are plain out-of-date, with online sources no longer available and unarchived, and just facts which have changed: people die, villages gain or lose facilities, authors write more books, etc.PamD16:15, 8 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

I undid your redirect ofCorkscrew with Bayerncurve toBayern Kurve. The names may look and sound similar, but they are completely different rides, which you should have been able to ascertain simply by reading the articles. A Bayern Kurve is a flat ride manufactured byAnton Schwarzkopf. A Corkscrew with Bayerncurve is a roller coaster manufactured byVekoma. There were several installations of each of these types of rides in multiple parks. They are not remotely similar to one another.JlACEer (talk)03:10, 10 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

  1. ^These are results for: "are there inuit in Iceland" Search.
AI Overview No, there is no native or indigenous Inuit population in Iceland. Iceland is recognized as the only Arctic state without an indigenous population, with its inhabitants having descended from Norse and Celtic settlers who arrived in the 9th century. Key details: Settlement History: While Inuit people inhabited Greenland, they did not settle in Iceland. Geography/Culture: The Inuit were primarily in North America, Greenland, and Russia. Iceland was settled by Europeans (Vikings) who did not historically interact with or merge with Inuit populations. Proximity: Despite being close to Greenland (approx. 300 km), it is believed that Inuit, who used specialized boats for coastal hunting, did not make permanent, large-scale migrations to Iceland. While some Greenlanders have mixed Inuit and Danish ancestry, Icelanders do not.
