Why can't I edit some particular pages?
Some pages that have been vandalized repeatedly aresemi-protected, meaning that editing by new or unregistered users is prohibited through technical measures. If you have an account that is four days old and has made at least 10 edits, then you can bypass semi-protection and edit any semi-protected page. Some pages, such as highly visibletemplates, are fully-protected, meaning that onlyadministrators can edit them. If this is not the case, you may have beenblocked or your IP address caught up in a range block.
Where can I experiment with editing Wikipedia?
Use themain sandbox orcreate your own personal sandbox to experiment.
How do I create an article?
Seehow to create your first article, then use theArticle Wizard to create one, and add references to the article as explained below.
How do I create citations?
  1. Do a search onGoogle or your preferred search engine for the subject of the Wikipedia article that you want to create a citation for.
  2. Find a website that supports the claim you are trying to find a citation for.
  3. In a new tab/window, go to thecitation generator, click on the 'An arbitrary website' bubble, and fill out as many fields as you can about the website you just found.
  4. Click the 'Get reference wiki text' button.
  5. Highlight, and then copy (Ctrl+C or Apple+C), the resulting text (it will be something like<ref> {{cite web | .... }}</ref>, copy the whole thing).
  6. In the Wikipedia article, after the claim you found a citation for, paste (Ctrl+V or Apple+V) the text you copied.
  7. If the article does not have a References or Notes section (or the like), add this to the bottom of the page, but above the External Links section and the categories:
==References=={{Reflist}}

Your future direction with outlines

[edit]

I just have one thing to say about your work on theOutline of George Washington: Wow.

I'm looking forward to browse with whatever outline you decide to work on or create next.

I was wondering if you wouldn't mind taking a look atWikipedia:Contents/Outlines/People and self#Specific people, first, to browse those outlines to see what you can do to touch them up, and second, to see if there is anyone special you wish to add to the list. There are some very influential people on that list, but, are all the most influential or catalytic people of all time on there (i.e., have an outline)?

Some candidates who come to mind to add to the company ofJesus,William Shakespeare,Leibniz,George Washington,Abraham Lincoln, andAlbert Einstein, in terms of sheer impact on human trajectory, are:

Would any of these pique your interest in making an outline?

Just some things to think about.

Sincerely,   —The Transhumanist  09:01, 17 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Why thank you for the high praiseThe Transhumanist! Though I must say you flatter me some as I was just following anoutline of the outline editing process since I was mainly adding links to your pre-existing draft, but nonetheless I've been busy with schoolwork recently and haven't had much time to add to the outlines. Though I think that before I begin any new outlines I'll touch up a bit on theOutline of George Washington first as there are still some small hiccups that could be removed. Though once again, thanks! :)Atakes Ris (talk)13:25, 17 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Outline of George Washington

[edit]

Hello,

Withthis edit atOutline of George Washington at 13:28, 5 December 2024 you added the citation "|Bell|1992|pp=52, 66" but failed to add the book to bibliography. Can you please add the book to the article. ThanksGavbadger (talk)Gavbadger (talk)17:57, 10 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I created a new outline!

[edit]

It's been awhile, but I did another outline.

I'd be honored if you looked it over for blatant errors and omissions.

Sincerely,   —The Transhumanist  17:56, 15 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
