15 years. I made an account on this website 15 years ago; for most people, that is a really long time. For others, that is an extremely tiny portion in the grand scheme of human history. That length of time out lasts multiple genres of music and even the lifetime of many, many bands. I got serious about my time on here when I used to be into abug-themed band, before eventually drifting toprogressive pastures. For my own peace of mind, I took a break that lasted longer than intended. When my tastes wentpost, so did my editing territory upon returning.
I've seen the creation of many publications in that time, and thedestruction ofothers along the way. Never thought something I worked on would ever end up on the main page, but itdid. The arrivals and departures of colleagues I've had the pleasure of editing alongside. Admiration for the work of others that I've not interacted with, but have been glad to read, even for things I've had no interest in. The tireless and often thankless work involved in reviewing articles I've edited — and others I've not touched — in my time here.
It's been on my mind since late 2023, so now, 15 years in, seems as good a time as any. Perhaps I'll write the nextGreat American Novel or take up fishing. The world is my oyster. Never say never, I suppose; maybe I'll get the itch to scratch againone day, but for now, it stopped being fun.So Long and Thanks for All the Shoes —till we meet again, everyone.MusicforthePeople (talk)08:34, 11 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
