Welcome to my userpage. I edit Wikipedia because I enjoy the process of research and writing. I also believe in free and open access to knowledge. I write content related to 20th century history and politics, biology, music, and speculative fiction. Much of my work has been on political history in countries of theGlobal South, which arevery poorly covered on Wikipedia. I am also anadministrator, and I spend some time on various maintenance tasks.Karellen93 is myalternative account for insecure connections.

    Adminship

Ibecame an administrator in September 2016, and anOversighter in October 2018. If I can help you in any way, or you take issue with one of my actions, feel free to leave me a message. Fellow administrators; if you believe that I took an administrative action that requires modification, please don't feel the need to hear from me before modifying it, just do me the courtesy of leaving a talk page note afterward.

I have long been a proponent of admin recall. As of December 2024, we have a community-basedadministrator recall process, which takes precedence over any personal process. I am leaving up the process I sketched out in 2016, as it is theoretically simpler. If you believe I have failed to meet the expectations of an administrator, please discuss your issue with me. If that does not resolve the issue, open a discussion atthe administrator noticeboard. After it has been open for a reasonable period, if anuninvolved administrator finds aconsensus among experienced editors in good standing who have not been party to previous disputes with me that I should resign, then I will.

I am seriously concerned by Wikipedia'sinability to maintain the size of its admin corps and what this means for our longevity. I have spent considerable time and effort attempting to recruit new administrators, including nominating or co-nominating the following candidates;EvergreenFir,Rosguill,Newslinger,Nick Moyes,Wugapodes,ScottishFinnishRadish,ComplexRational,Aoidh,Novem Linguae,Firefangledfeathers,Asilvering,ThadeusOfNazereth,Voorts,Rusalkii,Ser!,Jlwoodwa,Chaotic Enby,Yue,LEvalyn, andVacant0. I believe all editors who display a degree of competence and kindness ought to be recruited to maintaining Wikipedia. If you think that might be you, please feel free to get in touch.
