(Sydney) An entrepreneur will give $500,000 to help women in the city's poor suburbs - and said philanthropy is not just for the rich. Deanne Weir pledged the same amount towards tackling poverty in developing countries. The communications and media boss began her charitable giving with $10 donations two decades ago. She said: "you don't have to be a millionaire to be a philanthropist. It doesn't have to be $1million or $1,000. It can be $20. Philanthropy is for everybody." She is supporting Sydney Women's Fund and the International Development Agency.
