TheUniversity of Science and Technology, Yemen (USTY) (Arabic:لجامعة العلوم والتكنولجيا في اليمن) is a non-profituniversity located in Aden, Yemen.[2][1]
The university is a member of theAssociation of Arab Universities, Arab Higher Education Institutions, Arab Network for Open and Distance Education, theFederation of the Universities of the Islamic World, the Federation of International Universities, and theInternational Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE).[3]
The University of Science and Technology Yemen (USTY) was established in 1994 as the National College of Science and Technology as a non-profit private university.[1]
In 1996, the Center for Renewable Energy and Electronic Design was established at the university as a solar energy center.[4]
In 2020, due to the Houthis' prolonged control of the university's headquarters, facilities, and hospital inSana'a, the university moved its headquarters to the interim capital,Aden.[5][6][7]
In cooperation with foreign universities, it runs degree programs at undergraduate and graduate levels. Its own academic programs have seen expansion, and it now has eight faculties:
University of Science and Technology in Yemen is regarded as a prestigious university in Yemen.[1] In 2022,QS World University Rankings gave it a rank of 131–150 inArab region.[1]
InWebometrics Ranking of World Universities ranking, it was ranked within the top-two universities in Yemen.[26]
It is accredited by theAssociation to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).[3]
