Universidad de La Frontera, orUFRO, is a public university inTemuco,Araucanía Region,Chile. It is a derivative university and part of the Chilean Traditional Universities. UFRO boasts a student body with a variety of abilities and from a variety of backgrounds, many of them areMapuche descent. The University of La Frontera is part of theConsortium of Universities of the State of Chile (Consorcio de Universidades del Estado de Chile, CUECH). As a member, the university plays a significant role in promoting public higher education with a strong commitment to regional development, intercultural engagement—particularly with Indigenous Mapuche communities—and applied research. Through the consortium, it collaborates on initiatives that aim to strengthen the public university system and contribute to the country's social and scientific progress.

The university owns a property calledRucamanque Ecological and Cultural Park[1], that is used for research, environmental education, and conservation. Rucamanque holdsold-growth andsecond-growth forest.
