União Recreativa dos Trabalhadores, commonly known asURT, is a Brazilianfootball club based inPatos de Minas,Minas Gerais. They competed in theCopa do Brasil six times, in theSérie C once, in 1995, and in theSérie D five times, being the2019 edition, their last one. Currently, URT plays in theCampeonato Mineiro Módulo II, the second tier of Minas Geraisstate league.
The club was founded on July 9, 1939, after a meeting of a group of friends.[1][2] The club's biggest rivalry is againstMamoré, also fromPatos de Minas, known asClássico do Milho (Corn derby).[3]
They won theTaça Minas Gerais in 1999, beatingDemocrata-GV in the finals, and in 2000, when they defeatedIpatinga to secure their second title.
URT competed in theCopa do Brasil in2000,2001,2006,2017,2018 and2019. The club best campaigns were in 2006 and 2019, when they made to the second stage.
URT made to the semifinals of theCampeonato Mineiro two times in a row, in2016 and in2017. In both occasions they were defeated byAtlético Mineiro, but were given the title ofChampion of the Interior.
In2017,Trovão Azul made its best campaign in theSérie D, making to the quarterfinals. URT ended up not being promoted to theSérie C, as they were eliminated byGlobo in penalties.
União Recreativa dos Trabalhadores play their home games at Estádio Zama Maciel, also known asMangueirão. The stadium has a maximum capacity of 4,858 people.[4]
