Underbank Hall is a 16th-centurytown house in the centre ofStockport,Greater Manchester, England (grid referenceSJ895905). The hall dates back to the 15th century[1] and became aGrade II* listed building on 13 May 1952.[2] It was the home of a branch of theArden family ofBredbury, who were related toWilliam Shakespeare on hismother's side.[3]

In 1823 it was sold byWilliam Arden, 2nd Baron Alvanley to pay off debts, and became a bank. A banking hall was then added to the rear in 1919. The hall is still used as a bank today and currently houses theNatWest branch for Stockport.[4]
