Uncontained is a 2025 Americanzombiehorrordrama film written, directed by, and starring Morley Nelson,Peter O'Meara and Hayley LeBlanc.[1] The film explores themes of survival, family, and moral ambiguity during a viral outbreak that transforms people into zombie-like creatures. It was released on March 11, 2025, and is available for streaming on Screambox and through various digital platforms.[2]
Dan (Morley Nelson), a drifter, wakes up buried under snow in a remote, forested region amid the spread of a mysterious infection. He stumbles upon two siblings, Jack and Brooke, living in isolation in a technologically advanced home. Their parents are missing, and Dan becomes a reluctant guardian.
As the story unfolds, Dan discovers that Jack might be infected with a variant strain of the virus that causes him to shift between human and feral states, similar to a werewolf. At the same time, a Homeland Security agent is hiding her son’s infection from government authorities.
Tension rises when Brett Carson (Peter O'Meara), a militia leader, arrives with his team searching for his missing daughter, Melanie (Courtney Blythe Turk). The militia’s presence threatens the fragile peace Dan has created, forcing him and the children to fight for survival—not just from the infected, but from those who claim to be protectors.
Uncontained examines the nature of humanity in crisis, highlighting ethical dilemmas, emotional trauma, and the blurred line between human and monster. The infection in the film does not result in typical zombies but rather cyclical, partial transformations, lending a fresh take on the genre.[3]
The film is Morley Nelson's feature directorial debut. A former police officer, Nelson also wrote and produced the film. The narrative focuses on atmosphere and character over action, distinguishing it from typical zombie horror.[4]
Uncontained was released on March 11, 2025. It premiered onScreambox and became available iniOS,Android and on digital platforms includingAmazon Prime Video,Apple TV,Google Play,Amazon Fire TV,Roku,Samsung TV Plus,Comcast andCox.[5][6]
Bryan Staebell of Scare Value gave the film a rating of 3.5 over 5 and wrote; It is easy to recommend this one to people looking for a fresh take on some old ideas.[7]
