As per orders of the Delimitation Commission, No. 177 Uluberia Uttar Assembly constituency (SC) is composed of the following: Amta, Bhandargachha, Chandrapur, Khardah, Raspur, Sirajbati, Udang I and Udang IIgram panchayats ofAmta Icommunity development block and Baniban, Basudevpur, Joyargori, Tehatta Kantaberia I, Tehatta Kantaberia II and Tulsiberia gram panchayats ofUluberia II community development bloc.[1]
Uluberia Uttar Assembly constituency is part of No. 26Uluberia (Lok Sabha constituency).[1]

In the2006[4] and 2001[5] state assembly elections Mohan Mondal ofCPI(M) won the Uluberia North assembly seat defeating Gopal Dolui and Ram Janam Majhi, both ofTrinamool Congress, respectively. Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned. Ram Janam Majhi representingCongress defeated Asta Das of CPI(M) in 1996.[6] Raj Kumar Mondal of CPI(M) defeated Gunakar Sinha of Congress in 1991,[7] Gobinda Sinha of Congress in 1987,[8] Gunakar Singh of Congress in 1982,[9] and Arun Pramnik ofJanata Party in 1977.[10][11]
Raj Kumar Mandal of CPI(M) won in 1972[12] and 1971.[13] Kalipada Mondal of Forward Bloc won in 1969.[14] A.L. Majumdar of Forward Bloc won in 1967.[15] Bejoy Bhusan Mondal of Forward Bloc won in 1962.[16] In 1957 and 1951 Uluberia had a double seat. Abani Kumar Basu of Congress and Bijoy Bhusan Mondal of Forward Bloc won in1957.[17] Bijoy Mondal and Bibhuti Bhusan Ghosh, both ofAll India Forward Bloc (Ruikar) won in1951.[18]
