Ulrich "Uli"Edel (German pronunciation:[ˈʊliˈeːdl̩]; born 11 April 1947)[citation needed] is a German film and television director,[1] best known for his work on films such asChristiane F.,Last Exit to Brooklyn,Body of Evidence andThe Baader Meinhof Complex. He also directedEpisode 14, Season 2 “Double Play” from the 1990’s showTwin Peaks.

HisRasputin: Dark Servant of Destiny won a Golden Globe for Best Mini-Series or Motion Picture made for TV.Alan Rickman in the title role won anEmmy and aGolden Globe for Best Actor.Ian McKellen, playing Tsar Nicholas II, won a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor.

Edel was awarded Best Director at theBavarian andGerman Film Awards in 1990 forLast Exit to Brooklyn. In 2009, he received another nomination in this category for his work onThe Baader Meinhof Complex.[2]
