Ukraine competed at the2022 Winter Olympics inBeijing,China, from 4 to 20 February 2022, in its eighth appearance as an independent nation.[1][2]

Oleksandr Abramenko andOleksandra Nazarova were the country's flagbearer during theopening ceremony.[3] Meanwhile biathleteOlena Bilosiuk was the flagbearer during theclosing ceremony.[4]

The games were held amidst theprelude to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.[5][6] Prior to the opening ceremony theMinistry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine advised its athletes to avoidRussians where possible and instructed them how to behave in case they are provoked.[5][6] The ministry also did not recommend Ukrainian athletes to give interviews inRussian.[6]

Ukrainian athletes won a total of one silver medal, matching their medal haul from the2018 Olympics, although that medal was a gold. Therefore, this result can be considered the worst since2010 when Ukraine did not win any medals.
