TheSpecial Rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territories, formally theSpecial Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967,[1] is aspecial rapporteur who works for theUnited Nations and reports on the human rights situation in theoccupied Palestinian territories. The mandate was established in 1993 by the formerCommission on Human Rights.[2] The special rapporteur typically submits two reports annually, one to theHuman Rights Council inGeneva and another to theGeneral Assembly inNew York City.[3]
Francesca Albanese was appointed in 2022 to take up the post of Special Rapporteur as the first woman ever in the role.[1][4]
