This was the firstUFC event held inSweden,[3] and was the fastest selling European event inUFC history, selling out in three hours.[4]

The preliminary card for this event streamed live onFacebook.[5]

A rematch betweenRoss Pearson andDennis Siver atfeatherweight was briefly linked to this event.[6] However, Siver instead facedDiego Nunes.[7]

Mike Goldberg did play by play for this event in place ofJon Anik due to scheduling issues.[8]

Akira Corassani was expected to faceJason Young at the event, but Corassani pulled out of the bout with an undisclosed injury and was replaced byEric Wisely.[9]

Antônio Rogério Nogueira was expected to faceAlexander Gustafsson at this event but pulled out due to injury. His replacement wasThiago Silva.[10]

Jorgen Kruth was expected to faceCyrille Diabate at the event but pulled out of the bout with an injury,Tom DeBlass stepped in for Kruth and fought Diabate.[11]
