A lightweight bout between formerUFC Lightweight ChampionRafael dos Anjos andRafael Fiziev headlined the event.[3] They were previously scheduled to headlineUFC Fight Night: Walker vs. Hill, but the bout was postponed toUFC 272 due to visa issues with Fiziev.[4] Fiziev was once again forced to withdraw as hetested positive for COVID-19 a week before that event.[5]
A women's flyweight bout betweenAntonina Shevchenko andCortney Casey took place at this event. The pairing was previously scheduled to meet atUFC on ESPN: Font vs. Vera, but the bout was postponed to this event due to Shevchenko injuring her knee in training.[6]
A middleweight bout between Josh Fremd and Tresean Gore was scheduled for the event.[7] However, Fremd was pulled from the fight due to injury and replaced byCody Brundage.[8]
