UFC Fight Night: Walker vs. Hill (also known asUFC Fight Night 201,UFC on ESPN+ 59 andUFC Vegas 48) was amixed martial arts event produced by theUltimate Fighting Championship that took place on February 19, 2022, at theUFC Apex facility inEnterprise, Nevada, part of theLas Vegas Metropolitan Area, United States.[2]

Background

A lightweight bout between formerUFC Lightweight ChampionRafael dos Anjos andRafael Fiziev was expected to serve as the event headliner.[3] However, the bout was postponed toUFC 272 due to visa issues with Fiziev. Instead, a light heavyweight bout betweenJohnny Walker andJamahal Hill served as the main event.[4]

Jim Miller and Nikolas Motta met in a lightweight bout at this event.[5] They were originally booked forUFC Fight Night: Smith vs. Spann in last September, but Millertested positive for COVID-19 a week before that event and was pulled from the contest.[6]

John Makdessi was expected to faceNasrat Haqparast in a lightweight bout.[7] However, Makdessi pulled out due to injury and the pairing was scrapped.[8]

A heavyweight bout betweenIlir Latifi andAlexander Romanov was expected to take place at the event.[9] However, Romanov withdrew due to injury and the bout was scrapped.[10]

A middleweight bout featuringJulian Marquez andKyle Daukaus was scheduled for the event.[11] However, Marquez was pulled from the event due to undisclosed reasons.[12] He was replaced byJamie Pickett and the contest took place at a catchweight of 195 pounds.[13]

Austin Lingo andJonathan Pearce were expected to meet in a featherweight bout.[14] However, Lingo pulled out due to undisclosed reasons.[12] He was replaced by Christian Rodriguez.[15]

A bantamweight bout betweenMario Bautista andKhalid Taha was scheduled for this event.[16] However, Taha had to pull out of the bout due to undisclosed reasons and was replaced by promotional newcomer Jay Perrin.[17]

At the weigh-ins,Gabriel Benítez weighed in at 148 pounds, 2 pounds over the featherweight non-title fight limit. His bout proceeded at a catchweight and he was fined 30% of his purse, which went to his opponentDavid Onama.[18]
