UFC Fight Night: Mitchell vs. Sonnen (also known asUFC Fight Night 26) was amixed martial arts event held on August 17, 2013, at theTD Garden inBoston.[2]

The event was the firstUFC event broadcast onFox Sports 1.[3][4]

The main event was contested between formerUFC Light Heavyweight ChampionMaurício Rua andChael Sonnen.[5] The bout was first linked toUFC 161, as Sonnen was mentioned as a short notice replacement for Harvey's original opponentAntônio Rogério Nogueira, who was out of the bout with a back injury. Visa issues prevented Sonnen from getting into Canada, resulting in Harvey being pulled from the event altogether.[6]

Nick Ring was expected to faceUriah Hall at the event. However, Ring was pulled from the bout and was replaced byJosh Samman[7] Samman was subsequently forced from the bout and was replaced by returning UFC fighterJohn Howard.[8]

Akira Corassani was expected to faceMike Brown at the event; however, Corassani pulled out of the bout and was replaced bySteven Siler.[9]

Thiago Alves was expected to faceMatt Brown at the event; however, Alves pulled out of the bout citing an injury and was replaced byMike Pyle.[10]

Andy Ogle was expected to faceConor McGregor at the event; however, Ogle pulled out of the bout citing an injury and was replaced byMax Holloway.[11]
