The event was the first that the organization hosted in theNetherlands.[2]
The event was headlined by a heavyweight bout between the2010 K-1 World Grand Prix Champion and formerStrikeforce Heavyweight ChampionAlistair Overeem and formerUFC Heavyweight ChampionAndrei Arlovski.[3]
Rashid Magomedov was expected to faceChris Wade at the event. However, Magomedov pulled out of the fight in early March citing injury and was replaced byRustam Khabilov.[4]
Peter Sobotta was expected to face Dominic Waters at the event. However, Sobotta pulled out of the fight in late March citing injury and was replaced byLeon Edwards.[5]
Paddy Holohan was expected to faceWillie Gates at the event. However, on April 25, Holohan abruptly announced his retirement, citing arare blood disorder.[6] In turn, Gates facedUlka Sasaki.[7]
Nick Hein was expected to faceJon Tuck on the card, but pulled out just 6 days before the event due to injury.[8] He was replaced two days later by promotional newcomerJosh Emmett.[9]
