UFC Fight Night: Holohan vs. Smolka (also known asUFC Fight Night 76) was amixed martial arts event held on October 24, 2015, at3Arena inDublin,Ireland.[1] It featuredPaddy Holohan andLouis Smolka as headliners. Smolka defeated Holohan viarear-naked choke.
The event was the thirdUFC event inDublin, followingUFC 93: Franklin vs. Henderson in January 2009 andUFC Fight Night: McGregor vs. Brandao in July 2014.[1]
The event was expected to be headlined by alightweight bout betweenDustin Poirier andJoseph Duffy.[2] However, Duffy was forced to pull out of the fight on October 21, three days prior to the event, after sustaining a concussion during a sparring session earlier that week and the fight was scrapped. Aflyweight bout betweenPaddy Holohan andLouis Smolka was promoted to serve as the event's new headliner. It was the first three-rounds main event bout sinceThe Ultimate Fighter: Team Rousey vs. Team Tate Finale in November 2013.[3]
The co-main event was expected to feature aheavyweight bout with potentialUFC Heavyweight Championship title implications betweenStipe Miocic andBen Rothwell.[4] However, Miocic pulled out of the fight on October 14, ten days before the event, citing an injury.[5] Rothwell was removed from the card the following day after the promotion deemed that a suitable opponent could not be arranged on short notice.[6]
