A heavyweight bout betweenCiryl Gane and formerBellator Heavyweight World ChampionAlexander Volkov served as the event's headliner.[3]
A middleweight bout betweenAnthony Hernandez andPunahele Soriano was expected to take place at the event.[4] The pairing was previously scheduled to take place in May 2020 atUFC on ESPN: Overeem vs. Harris, but Soriano pulled out due to undisclosed reasons.[5] In turn, Hernandez pulled out in late May due to a hand injury and was replaced byBrendan Allen, with the new matchup expected to take place a month later atUFC Fight Night: Sandhagen vs. Dillashaw.[6]
A lightweight bout betweenYancy Medeiros andDamir Hadžović has been rescheduled for the second time and took place at the event.[7] The pairing was first scheduled to meet atUFC Fight Night: Font vs. Garbrandt.[8] However, it was pulled from the card just hours before taking place due to health issues with Hadžović.[9]
A women's bantamweight bout betweenJulija Stoliarenko andJulia Avila was also rescheduled to take place at this event.[10] The bout was previously scheduled to take place in March atUFC on ESPN: Brunson vs. Holland, but it was cancelled as Stoliarenko was deemed medically unfit to compete due to complications from her weight cut, including collapsing twice off the scales during her attempts.[11]
Ed Herman was expected to faceDanilo Marques in a light heavyweight bout at the event.[12] However, Herman was removed from the card due to undisclosed reasons on June 14 and replaced byKennedy Nzechukwu.[13]
A welterweight bout betweenNicolas Dalby andSergey Khandozhko was expected to take place at the event.[14] However on June 15, Khandozhko pulled out due to injury and was replaced byTim Means.[15]
Ramazan Emeev was expected to faceThe Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3 middleweight winnerWarlley Alves in a welterweight bout.[16] However, Emeev pulled out in mid June due to undisclosed reasons and was replaced by promotional newcomerJeremiah Wells.[17][18]
A light heavyweight bout between former interimUFC Light Heavyweight Championship challengerOvince Saint Preux andMaxim Grishin was expected to take place at the event.[19] However, Grishin withdrew from the bout due to visa issues and was replaced byTanner Boser in a heavyweight bout.[20]
A flyweight bout between formerUFC Flyweight Championship challengerTim Elliott (alsoThe Ultimate Fighter: Tournament of Champions flyweight winner) andSu Mudaerji was scheduled for this event.[21] However, Mudaerji pulled out due to a knee injury that will require surgery and the bout was scrapped.[22]
