Zak Cummings was briefly linked to a bout withKenny Robertson at the event.[4] Cummings was pulled from the fight in favor of a matchup withGunnar Nelson a few days later atUFC Fight Night 46 after his opponentRyan LaFlare was removed from that card.[5] Subsequently, Robertson was removed from the card entirely and rescheduled to faceIldemar Alcântara a week earlier atUFC 175.[6]
Rick Story was expected to faceJohn Howard at the event. Howard was forced out of the bout with an injury and replaced byLeonardo Mafra.[7]
Jim Alers was expected to faceLucas Martins at the event. Alers pulled out of the bout, citing injury, and was replaced byAlex White.[8]
