UFC Fight Night: Condit vs. Kampmann 2 (also known asUFC Fight Night 27) was amixed martial arts event held on August 28, 2013, at theBankers Life Fieldhouse inIndianapolis, Indiana.[2] The event was broadcast live onFox Sports 1.
The main event was a rematch betweenMartin Kampmann and formerUFC Interim Welterweight Champion and formerWEC Welterweight ChampionCarlos Condit.[3] In their first encounter atUFC Fight Night 18 in 2009, Kampmann defeated Condit (who was making his promotional debut) via split decision.[4][5]
A bout between promotional newcomers Nandor Guelmino andDerrick Lewis was briefly linked to this event. However, Lewis was forced out of the bout with an injury and Guelmino was removed from the card and scheduled for a later bout atUFC 165.[6]
A bout betweenBobby Voelker andJames Head was briefly scheduled for this event. However, on July 11, it was announced that Voelker had been brought in as a replacement forSiyar Bahadurzada and would faceRobbie Lawler on July 27, 2013 atUFC on Fox 8.[7]Jason High stepped in to face Head as a replacement for Voelker.[8]
Paulo Thiago was expected to faceKelvin Gastelum at the event. However, Thiago pulled out of the bout citing a knee injury and was replaced byBrian Melancon.[9]
Sarah Kaufman was expected to faceSara McMann at the event. However, McMann pulled out of the bout for undisclosed personal reasons.[10] As a result, Kaufmann was pulled from the event as well.[11]
A flyweight bout between UFC newcomersDustin Ortiz andJustin Scoggins was briefly linked to this event, but was removed from the card.[12]
