A welterweight bout between formerUFC Welterweight Championship challengerGilbert Burns andSean Brady served as the main event.[3]
A featherweight bout betweenCalvin Kattar andKyle Nelson was scheduled for this event.[4] However, Kattar withdrew from the fight for unknown reasons and was replaced bySteve Garcia.[5]
A bantamweight bout betweenAiemann Zahabi andMarcus McGhee was reported for this event.[6] However, the bout was removed from the card for unknown reasons.[7]
A featherweight bout between Žygimantas Ramaškaand Nathan Fletcher was scheduled to take place atUFC on ESPN: Cannonier vs. Borralho.[8] Despite both men successfully weighing in, it was announced that the fight was canceled due to an undisclosed medical issue on Fletcher’s part and was re-scheduled to take place at this event.[9]
A flyweight bout betweenMatt Schnell and Alessandro Costa was expected to take place at the event.[10] However, Costa withdrew from the bout due to a shoulder injury and was replaced byCody Durden in a bantamweight bout.[11]
A light heavyweight bout between former interimUFC Light Heavyweight Championship challengerOvince Saint Preux and formerLFA Light Heavyweight ChampionRyan Spann was scheduled for this event.[12] However, Saint Preux withdrew from the fight due to an illness and the bout was moved toUFC 307 as a result.[13][14]
At the weigh-ins, Dylan Budka andKyle Nelson missed weight. Budka weighed in at 188.5 pounds, two and a half pounds over the middleweight non-title fight limit. Nelson weighed in at 148.5 pounds, two and a half pounds over the featherweight non-title fight limit. Both bouts proceeded at catchweight with both fighters forfeiting 20% of their purses, which went to their opponentsAndre Petroski andSteve Garcia, respectively.[15]
