The event was headlined by top ten light heavyweightsRyan Bader andOvince Saint Preux.[3][4]
The event was the first hosted in Maine.[5][6][7]
As a result of the cancellation ofUFC 176, bouts betweenBobby Green vs.Abel Trujillo,Jussier Formiga vs.Zach Makovsky[8] andGray Maynard vs.Fabrício Camões were rescheduled for this event.[9] Subsequently, Green was removed from his fight on July 11 in favor of a bout as an injury replacement forMichael Johnson againstJosh Thomson atUFC on Fox 12 on July 26, 2014.[10] Trujillo was expected to faceRoss Pearson.[11]
On August 4, Trujillo pulled out of the Pearson bout and was replaced byGray Maynard. In turn, Maynard's originally scheduled opponentFabrício Camões was removed from the card entirely and was rebooked for a separate event with a new opponent.[12]
