A bantamweight bout betweenMarlon Vera and former interimUFC Bantamweight Championship challengerCory Sandhagen was expected to headline the event.[3] However, the bout was moved toUFC on ESPN: Vera vs. Sandhagen for unknown reasons.[4] As a result, a women's flyweight bout between formerUFC Women's Flyweight Championship challengerTaila Santos andErin Blanchfield was promoted to main event status.[5] However, just one week out from the event, Santos withdrew after her cornermen were denied visas into the United States, and was replaced by formerUFC Women's Strawweight ChampionJéssica Andrade.[6][7]
A middleweight bout betweenGerald Meerschaert andAbusupiyan Magomedov was expected to take place at the event.[8] They were previously scheduled to meet atUFC Fight Night: Lewis vs. Daukaus but Magomedov was forced to pull from the event due to visa issue.[9] In turn, Magomedov once again pulled out due to visa issues and the bout was scrapped.[10]
A light heavyweight bout betweenWilliam Knight andMarcin Prachnio took place at the event.[11] They were previously scheduled to meet atUFC Fight Night: Nzechukwu vs. Cuțelaba but the bout was scrapped for undisclosed reasons.[12]
A light heavyweight bout between former interimUFC Light Heavyweight Championship challengerOvince Saint Preux and2018 PFL heavyweight tournament winnerPhilipe Lins took place at the event.[13] They were previously scheduled to meet atUFC 282 but Lins withdrew from the bout due to an undisclosed reason.[14]
A welterweight bout between Billy Goff andThemba Gorimbo was expected to take place at the event.[15] However, Goff withdrawal due to undisclosed reason and was replaced by A.J. Fletcher.[16]
A welterweight bout betweenRamiz Brahimaj andCarlston Harris was scheduled for the event.[17] However, Brahimaj was pulled from the event citing neck injury.[18] The UFC then opted to booked Harris againstAbubakar Nurmagomedov atUFC Fight Night: Yan vs. Dvalishvili on March 11.[19]
A lightweight bout betweenJoe Solecki andBenoît Saint-Denis was scheduled for the event.[20] However, Saint-Denis withdrew from the bout citing ankle injury.[21] He was replaced by promotional newcomer Carl Deaton III and the bout was moved toUFC Fight Night: Krylov vs. Spann a week later.[22]
A lightweight bout betweenJim Miller andGabriel Benítez was expected to take place at the event.[23] However, Benítez withdrew due to an undisclosed reason and was replaced byAlexander Hernandez.[24]
