Background

[edit]

The main event featuredAnderson Silva defending hisMiddleweight Championship against Cincinnati native and former championRich Franklin in a rematch of their October 2006 meeting atUFC 64, which Silva won bytechnical knockout.[2] The name "Hostile Territory" came from the defense of Anderson Silva's UFCmiddleweight title against Cincinnati native Rich Franklin.[3]

Before the Vera vs. Sylvia fight, former amateurwrestler andWWE wrestlerBrock Lesnar announced he had signed with the UFC.[5]
