UFC 317: Topuria vs. Oliveira was amixed martial arts event produced by theUltimate Fighting Championship that took place on June 28, 2025, atT-Mobile Arena inParadise, Nevada, part of theLas Vegas Valley, United States.[2]
The event was held during the UFC's annual International Fight Week. The 2025UFC Hall of Fame induction ceremony also took place during the week.[3]
AUFC Lightweight Championship bout for the vacant title between formerUFC Featherweight ChampionIlia Topuria and former championCharles Oliveira served as the event's headliner. Current championIslam Makhachev vacated the title in order to challenge for theUFC Welterweight Championship.[4] Topuria vacated his featherweight title in April in order to move up to lightweight.[5]Arman Tsarukyan (who was previously scheduled to challenge for the title atUFC 311 but pulled out a day before the event due to injury) served as backup and potential replacement for this fight.[6]
AUFC Flyweight Championship bout between current championAlexandre Pantoja and former interim title challengerKai Kara-France co-headlined the event.[7] The bout was originally rumored to take place atUFC 314 andUFC 316, but the bookings were never confirmed.[8][9] The pairing previously met in an exhibition match in the quarterfinals ofThe Ultimate Fighter: Tournament of Champions in November 2016, when Pantoja won the two-round bout by unanimous decision.[10]
A flyweight bout between former title challenger (also formerLFA Flyweight Champion)Brandon Royval and formerRIZIN Bantamweight ChampionManel Kape was scheduled to take part at this event.[11] They were originally scheduled to headlineUFC Fight Night: Kape vs. Almabayev in a title eliminator, but Royval had to withdraw due to multiple concussions.[12] In turn, Kape pulled out this time on June 9 due to a broken foot and was replaced byJoshua Van.[13]
A lightweight bout betweenBeneil Dariush and former title challengerRenato Moicano took place at this event.[14] They were initially supposed to compete atUFC 311 but Moicano ended up challengingIslam Makhachev for the title in the main event on short notice.[15]
A heavyweight bout betweenJustin Tafa andJhonata Diniz was scheduled for this event.[16] However, Tafa withdrew from the fight for unknown reasons and was replaced by promotional newcomer Alvin Hines.[17]
A middleweight bout between formerUFC Middleweight Championship challengerPaulo Costa andRoman Kopylov was scheduled for this event.[18] However, for unknown reasons the bout was moved toUFC 318.[19]
Sedriques Dumas was scheduled to face undefeated promotional newcomer Jackson McVey at this event in a middleweight bout.[20] However, Dumas pulled out for unknown reasons and was replaced by another undefeated newcomer Christopher Ewert.[21] Ewert then proceeded to miss weight by 10 pounds and was cut the same day, forcing the fight to be cancelled.[22]
