AUFC Lightweight Championship bout between current championCharles Oliveira and former interim championDustin Poirier served as the event headliner.[5]
AUFC Women's Bantamweight Championship bout between current championAmanda Nunes (also currentUFC Women's Featherweight Champion) andThe Ultimate Fighter: Team Rousey vs. Team Tate bantamweight winnerJulianna Peña took place at the event.[6] The pairing was previously scheduled to take place atUFC 265, but it was postponed after Nunestested positive for COVID-19.[7]
AUFC Flyweight Championship trilogy bout between current championBrandon Moreno and former championDeiveson Figueiredo was expected to take place at the event.[8] The pairing first met atUFC 256 on December 12, 2020, resulting in a majority draw (Figueiredo retained the title).[9] Their second meeting took place atUFC 263 on June 12, where Moreno captured the title by submission in the third round.[10] Subsequently, the bout was moved toUFC 270 due to the addition of a welterweight bout betweenJorge Masvidal andLeon Edwards.[11] Masvidal later withdrew due to injury in early November and the bout was scrapped.[12]
A flyweight bout between former title challengerAlex Perez andMatt Schnell had been rescheduled forUFC Fight Night: Brunson vs. Till.[13] They were originally expected to meet atUFC 262, before Perez was forced to pull out due to undisclosed reasons.[14] They were then booked again atUFC on ESPN: Barboza vs. Chikadze, before being shifted to this event.[13] However, the bout was yet again postponed for unknown reasons to this event.[15] At the weigh-ins, Perez weighed in at 126.25 pounds (57.27 kg), which was 0.25 pounds (0.11 kg) over the flyweight non-title fight limit. Shortly after, officials announced that the bout had been cancelled as Schnell was forced to withdraw due to a medical issue.[16]
A women's flyweight bout betweenMontana De La Rosa andMaycee Barber was expected to take place at the event.[17] However, De La Rosa pulled out of the fight in early October citing injury and she was replaced byErin Blanchfield.[18][19] In turn, Barber withdrew in early November due to undisclosed reasons.[20]Miranda Maverick was announced as her replacement.[21]
A middleweight bout betweenAndré Muniz and Dricus Du Plessis was scheduled for the event.[22] However, Du Plessis withdrew from the event due to injury and was replaced byEryk Anders.[23]
A heavyweight bout betweenAugusto Sakai andTai Tuivasa was scheduled forUFC Fight Night: Vieira vs. Tate, but it was scrapped due to visa issues.[24] It took place at this event instead.[25]
At the weigh-ins,Priscila Cachoeira weighed in at 129 pounds, 3 pounds over the flyweight non-title fight limit. Her bout proceeded at a catchweight and she was fined 30% of her purse, which went to her opponentGillian Robertson.[16]
