Tyrodiza (Ancient Greek:Τυρόδιζα) was aGreek[1] city inancient Thrace, located in the region of thePropontis. It appears to have flourished between 550 BCE and 330 BCE, and is identified with the place calledTiristasis (Τειρίστασις and Τιρίστασις) in thePeriplus of Pseudo-Scylax andPliny the Elder.[2][3][4] It was a member of theDelian League and appears in the tribute lists ofancient Athens between 452/1 and 445/4 BCE.[1] In 340 BCE, Tiristasis was taken by the Athenian generalDiopeithes, who enslaved its inhabitants along with those ofCrobyle.[5]
Its location is near the modern Turkish town ofŞarköy, inTekirdağ Province.[6][7]
