Tynron is a village andcivil parish inDumfries and Galloway, south-westScotland, lying in a hollow of theShinnel Water, 2 miles (3.2 km) fromMoniaive.

AtTynron Doon there can be seen the ditches and ramparts of a Roman Iron Agehillfort.

The name Tynron is probably fromCumbricdin rhón meaning 'lance-fort'.[1]
