Turuberan (Armenian:Տուրուբերան), also known asTavruberan (Armenian:Տաւրուբերան) was the fourthArmenian region that was part of the ancientKingdom of Armenia from 189 BC to 387 AD. Then it was part of theSassanid Empire,Byzantine Empire,Arab Caliphate, medievalKingdom of Armenia,Zakarian Armenia, variousTurco-Mongol states,Safavid Empire, and finally theOttoman Empire. A very largeArmenian population remained until theArmenian genocide in 1915. Currently it is situated inTurkey's south-east.[2][3]
