Turret Peak is a high peak of theNeedle Mountains, a subrange of theSan Juan Mountains in the southwestern part of theUS State ofColorado. It rises on the east side of theAnimas River, 0.5 miles (0.80 km) southeast ofPigeon Peak. It is located in theWeminuche Wilderness, part of theSan Juan National Forest.
Turret Peak is the 89th highest independent peak in Colorado.[4]
According to theKöppen climate classification system, the mountain is located in an alpinesubarctic climate zone with cold, snowy winters, and cool to warm summers.[5] Due to its altitude, it receives precipitation all year, as snow in winter, and as thunderstorms in summer, with a dry period in late spring.
