The 2023Turning Point was the sixteenthprofessional wrestlingevent produced byImpact Wrestling. It took place on October 27, 2023 at the Walker Activity Dome inNewcastle upon Tyne, England, and aired onImpact Plus on November 3. The event was apart of a four-day UK Invasion Tour, marking Impact Wrestling's return to theUnited Kingdom after nearly eight years.[1][2] The event also featured wrestlers fromRevolution Pro Wrestling (RevPro).

Tenprofessional wrestling matches were contested at the event including two on the pre-show. In the main event,Will Ospreay defeatedEddie Edwards. In other prominent matches,Trinity defeatedDeonna Purrazzo in aLast Chance match to retain theKnockouts World Championship, The Most Professional Wrestling Gods (Moose andBrian Myers) defeatedFrankie Kazarian andChris Sabin, and in the opening contest,Eric Young andJosh Alexander defeatedSubculture (Flash Morgan Webster andMark Andrews). The event also featured the Impact debuts ofAlex Windsor andSimon Miller.[3]

Following the success of theDown Under Tour in Australia, Impact Wrestling announced a three-night UK Invasion Tour in theUnited Kingdom in October, marking the promotion's return to UK in eight years.[4] Three shows were announced for the event: a show at theO2 Academy inGlasgow,Scotland on October 26, a show at the Walker Activity Dome inNewcastle upon Tyne, England on October 27, and a show at the HMV Empire Coventry inCoventry, England on October 28.[5] On the August 31 episode ofImpact!, it was announced that the October 27 show scheduled for Walker Activity Dome would be the 2023 edition of Turning Point, marking the sixteenth edition of the event, and the first since2021.[6] It was announced that the show would air viatape delay onImpact Plus on November 3.[2]

Storylines

The event featured severalprofessional wrestling matches that involved different wrestlers from pre-existingscriptedfeuds,plots, andstorylines. Wrestlers portrayedheroes,villains, orless distinguishable characters in scripted events that built tension and culminated in a wrestling match or series of matches. Storylines were produced on Impact'sweekly television program.[7]

On the August 31 episode ofImpact!, it was announced thatWill Ospreay would compete in a match at Turning Point.[8] On October 17, it was announced thatEddie Edwards would be Ospreay's opponent at the event.[9]

The second match announced for Turning Point was atag team match, in whichEric Young andJosh Alexander would be scheduled to take onSubculture (Flash Morgan Webster andMark Andrews).[10]

On October 18, two matches were added to the Turning Point card:Jordynne Grace versusDani Luna, andThe Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley andChris Sabin) versusBrian Myers andMoose.[11]

On October 19, two matches were announced for the card includingGisele Shaw versusAlex Windsor, marking the latter's debut in Impact, and anX Divisionthree-way match betweenFrankie Kazarian,Rich Swann andTrey Miguel.[12]

AtSlammiversary,Trinity defeatedDeonna Purrazzo to win theKnockouts World Championship and retained the title against Purrazzo in a rematch atEmergence.[13][14] On October 22, it was announced that Trinity would defend the title against Purrazzo at Turning Point and it would be Purrazzo's final chance at the title as long as Trinity was champion.[15]

On 9 September atImpact! 1000,Joe Hendry and his tag team partnerYuya Uemura participated in the 20-manFeast or Fired match. Hendry told Uemura to grab briefcase number 4, which contained the pink slip, and Uemura was fired from Impact Wrestling.[16][17] YouTuberSimon Miller reviewedImpact! 1000 onWhatCulture Wrestling's YouTube channel where he blamed Hendry for Uemura's firing.[18] This led to Hendry and Miller attacking each other during the recording ofJoe Hendry's Food Fight for Impact Plus.[19] It resulted in a match being set up between Hendry and Miller at Turning Point.[20][21]
