Turkman Bareh (Arabic:تركمان بارح,romanized: Turkumān Bāriḩ), alternatively spelledBarih, is a town in northernAleppo Governorate, northwesternSyria. About 40 kilometres (25 mi) northeast of the city ofAleppo and about 13 km (8.1 mi) south of Syria's border withTurkey, it is administratively part ofNahiya Akhtarin ofAzaz District. Nearby localities includeDabiq 5 km (3.1 mi) to the west andAkhtarin 4 km (2.5 mi) to the south. In the 2004 census, Turkman Bareh had a population of 1,537.[1] The town is inhabited byTurkmen.[2]
The town has been in close proximity to sustained fighting in theSyrian civil war.
