Pseudodon shell DUB1006-fL with the earliest known geometric engravings, supposedly, made byHomo erectus ; ca. 500,000 BP; from Trinil (Java );Naturalis Biodiversity Center (Netherlands ).[ 1] TheHomo erectus "Java Man " in theNaturalis Biodiversity Center ,Netherlands . Trinil is apalaeoanthropological site on the banks of theBengawan Solo inKedunggalar District ,Ngawi ,Indonesia . It was at this site in 1891 that theDutch anatomist Eugène Dubois discovered the first earlyhominin remains to be found outside ofEurope : the famous "Java Man " (Homo erectus erectus ) specimen.[ 2] [ 3] [ 4]
