Trent Correy (born January 1, 1985) is an American film director, screenwriter and animator. He is best known for his work atWalt Disney Animation Studios, including directing the short filmsOnce Upon a Snowman (2020) andOnce Upon a Studio (2023).

Early life

In the 2010s, he was enrolled atLaguna College of Art and Design, where he directedAttack of the 50 Foot Hero, which played at the 2013Dallas International Film Festival.[3][2]

Career

In 2008, he began his career atMercury Filmworks, where he served as an animator.[4] In 2010, he then transitioned toSony Pictures Imageworks, where he served as a character animator onThe Smurfs (2011).[5][4] In 2012, after then working at theKratt Brothers Company andBardel Entertainment, he moved toWalt Disney Animation Studios as an animation trainee in the Talent Development Program.[6][4] He worked as an animator onFrozen (2013),Big Hero 6 (2014),Frozen Fever (2015),Zootopia (2016),Moana (2016),Ralph Breaks the Internet (2018), andFrozen 2 (2019).[6][5] In 2018, he developed the concept for the short filmOne Small Step.[7]

He wrote and directed the short filmDrop, which had its world premiere at theOttawa International Animation Festival in September 2019, before debuting onDisney+ as part of theShort Circuit streaming series.[8][9] In 2020, he wrote and directed the short filmOnce Upon a Snowman, alongside Dan Abraham.[10][11] In 2022, he wrote and directed all of the episodes of the streaming seriesZootopia+, alongsideJosie Trinidad.[12] In 2023, he wrote and directed the short filmOnce Upon a Studio, alongside Dan Abraham.[13] In November 2025, it was reported that Correy signed on as co-director onFrozen 3 (2027), making his feature film directorial debut.[14]
