Located in the village ofMinane Bridge, about 5 km fromCarrigaline, Tracton GAA Club was established in 1888.[1] The club entered a team in the1888 Cork SHC and, playing in the South Cork division, were beaten byCarrigaline in theopening round. Tracton has, since then, spent the majority of its existence operating in the junior grades.
Tracton won the first of sevenSouth East JAHC titles in 1929. The club made a major breakthrough in 1957 by winning theCork JHC title for the first time.[2] A second Cork JHC title was won in 1979 after a defeat ofCastletownroche in thefinal.[3] Tracton securedsenior status for the first time in their history in 1991, when they beatInniscarra by 4–15 to 5–09 to win theCork IHC title.[4]
While Tracton has been dominated by hurling since its foundation, the club has also won threeSouth East JAFC titles since 1983.[5]
