TheToronto Comic Arts Festival (TCAF) is acomic book festival held annually inToronto,Ontario, Canada. Since its founding in 2003, TCAF has grown to become one of the world’s largest festivals dedicated to the promotion and appreciation of comic arts.

Programming

TCAF focuses onalternative andindependent comics, but includes other creative arts besides comics.[2] Unlike traditionalcomic book conventions, TCAF is modeled off of independent comic festivals andart book fairs such as theAngoulême International Comics Festival andSmall Press Expo.[3]

TCAF is a free-admission event.[3]

History

TCAF was founded by Peter Birkemoe and Chris Butcher ofThe Beguiling in 2003.[2] The festival was held biennially until 2009, when in partnership with theToronto Public Library it became an annual event. Starting that year, the festival took place at theToronto Reference Library until 2024.[2] The 2025 festival will take place atToronto Metropolitan University'sMattamy Athletic Centre.[1]
