Tord Hall

Swedish mathematician

Tord Hall (7 January 1910 - 30 September 1987) was aSwedishmathematician, university professor and bestselling author.

Life

He was born in 1910 inJönköping, Sweden,[1] and died in 1987.[1]

Career

He completed his Ph.D. in mathematics fromUppsala University.[2] His PhD advisor wasArne Beurling.[2] The title of his PhD thesis wasOn Polynomials bounded at an Infinity of Points.

From 1959 to 1975, he was a professor of mathematics at Uppsala University.[1] He published several mathematical theorems.[3]

In addition to his academic career, he also worked as an employee for newspaperSvenska Dagbladet andSveriges Radio, the national Swedish radio.

Bibliography

He is most well known as the biographer ofCarl Gauss (Biography of Carl Gauss).[4][5]It was translated into English byAlbert Froderberg.[6]

The book generally received favorable reviews.[7]
