Celestine "Toni"Cruz Gonzaga-Soriano (born January 20, 1984) is a Filipino media personality, host, actress, businesswoman, singer, and vlogger.^[2] Gonzaga was the former lead host ofABS-CBN's long-running reality showPinoy Big Brother (2005–2022). Her ownYouTube channel, Toni Gonzaga Studio (TGS), has over 8 million subscribers.Tatler magazine named her one of the most influential people in Asia in 2021 and 2022.^[3]

Toni Gonzaga was born Celestine Cruz Gonzaga on January 20, 1984, inTaytay, She is the eldest daughter of formerpunong barangay, councilor and vice mayor Carlito "Bonoy" and Crisanta "Pinty" (née Cruz) Gonzaga, who also acts as her talent manager.^[4] Her younger sister, Catherine "Cathy" Gonzaga, professionally known asAlex Gonzaga, is also an actress, comedian, television host and vlogger. In Taytay, she was an electedBarangay Kagawad for one term,^[5][6] and was also a Sunday school teacher in theUnited Methodist Church. She studiedmass communication at the Dominican College inSan Juan, Metro Manila, for two years. She later transferred to theAsian Institute for Distance Education (AIDE) and shifted her major to aBachelor of Arts in English, which she was unable to finish due to her entertainment career. She is currently enrolled at theUniversity of the Philippines Open University taking up her bachelor's degree in multimedia studies.^[7]

Gonzaga started in local entertainment at the age of 13. It was in 1997 where she joined a singing competition called "Metropop Star Search", which was then aired onGMA.^[8] Two other Filipina singers,Kyla and Faith Cuneta, started their career on the singing competition television show.^[9][10] Gonzaga won the competition.

Gonzaga's biggest break in the entertainment industry was herSprite soft drinkTV commercial withPiolo Pascual in 2001.^[11] In 2002, she released her eponymous debut album under Prime Music and a cover ofGary Valenciano's "Paano" was released as its carrier single. In the same year, she starred as a lead in her first comedy-horror film,D' Anothers in whichVhong Navarro was her love interest. In 2006, she released her second album and her first underStar Records entitledToni: You Complete Me and starred in her first prime time drama seriesCrazy for You oppositeLuis Manzano. In 2009, Gonzaga starred in a Valentine's Day Special episode ofMaalaala Mo Kaya, the longest-running drama anthology on Philippine television and in Asia. She was then cast in the Gideon Flame Film Festival's Best Film,A Journey Home. Later in February, a duet album withSam Milby was released underStar Records. Before the year ended, Gonzaga was once again teamed up withSam Milby in thecomedy film,Ang Tanging Pamilya: A Marry Go Round which includedAi-Ai de las Alas andFormer Philippine President Joseph Estrada as the main leads. In 2010, she became part of entertainment talk show programThe Buzz. In August 2011, her filmWedding Tayo, Wedding Hindi, her first ever team up withEugene Domingo, premiered in cinemas nationwide in thePhilippines. On January 7, 2013, Gonzaga entered theHimig Handog P-Pop Love Songs contest with the song entry called "Kahit Na", written by Jumbo "Bojam" De Belen. The contest featured songwriters who worked together withFilipino artists to create newOPM music. The song was simultaneously promoted byStar Records Inc.^[23][24] as it was chosen as one of the 12 Grand Finalists. The music video of the said song was produced by theUniversity of the Philippines.^[25][26] She performed the song during the grand finals on February 24 at theSM Mall of Asia Arena. Overall, the song finished in fifth place as the Best P-pop Love Song, thus rewarding the writer of Gonzaga's song₱100,000 in cash.^[27][28]
