Thomas Glyn Doyle (born 17 October 2001) is an English professionalfootballer who plays as acentral midfielder forEFL Championship clubBirmingham City, on loan fromPremier League clubWolverhampton Wanderers.
Doyle was born on 17 October 2001 inManchester, England to Scott Doyle and Charlotte Pardoe, themselves the children of former Manchester City playersMike Doyle andGlyn Pardoe respectively.[3]
Doyle joinedSandbach United at the age of four, before joiningManchester City at the age of eight.[4]Tommy turned down a loan move toPreston North End on deadline day in the autumn of 2020 with the intention of fighting for a place in the first team.
Doyle made his professional debut forManchester City in a 3–1EFL Cup win overSouthampton on 29 October 2019.[5] On 18 September 2020, he extended his contract until 2025.[6]
On 31 August 2021, Doyle joined2. Bundesliga clubHamburger SV on loan for the2021–22 season.[7][8]
On 20 January 2022, Doyle joinedEFL Championship sideCardiff City on loan until the end of the season.[9][10] He scored his first goal for the club on 23 February 2022 in a 2–1 loss toHuddersfield Town.[11]
On 4 July 2022, Doyle joined Championship sideSheffield United on a season-long loan alongside Manchester City teammateJames McAtee. Doyle scored the match winner for the Blades againstBlackburn Rovers in the quarter-finals of theFA Cup on 19 March 2023, sending the club into the semi-finals of the competition for the first time since 2014.[12] Despite this, alongside McAtee, he was unable to play in the semi-final against his parent club due toFA competition rules forbidding loan players from facing their parent clubs.[13] He finished the season with 38 appearances, four goals and seven assists in all competitions and also won the club's Goal of the Season award for his goal against Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup.[14][15]
On 1 September 2023, Doyle signed for Premier League clubWolves on a season-long loan deal.[16] The deal contained an option to buy for a reported £4.3 million with a fifty percent sell on clause on any profit.[17]
Doyle scored his first goal for Wolves in a 1–1 draw withBrentford in the third round of theFA Cup on 5 January 2024.[18]
On 3 May 2024, Wolves announced that they had activated the buy clause in their deal with Manchester City and that Doyle would join the club permanently on 1 July 2024.[19]
On 2 July 2025, Doyle joined newly promotedEFL Championship clubBirmingham City on a season long loan for the duration of the 2025/26 season.[20] He made his debut as a 77th minute substitute in Birmingham's opening day fixture againstIpswich Town.
Doyle was a member of theEngland under-17 squad that hosted the2018 UEFA European Under-17 Championship.[21] He scored a penalty in the opening game againstIsrael.[22] The following fixture saw him score the winning goal againstItaly.[23] A metatarsal injury in the final group match againstSwitzerland ruled him out of the rest of the tournament.[24][25]
On 13 October 2020, Doyle captained theEngland U20s on his debut for the age group during a 2–0 victory overWales atSt. George's Park.[26]
On 27 August 2021, Doyle received his first call up for theEngland U21s.[27] On 7 September 2021, he made his England U21 debut during the 2-02023 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualification win overKosovo U21s atStadium MK.[28]
On 14 June 2023, Doyle was included in the England squad for the2023 UEFA European Under-21 Championship.[29][30] He came off the bench as a late substitute in thefinal as England defeatedSpain to win the tournament.[31][32]
Doyle's paternal grandfatherMike Doyle and maternal grandfatherGlyn Pardoe, were former professional footballers and long-time teammates atManchester City.[33] Both men played in the1974 League Cup Final against Wolverhampton Wanderers, the club at which their grandson Tommy Doyle currently plays for (Wolves won that game 2–1 to lift theLeague Cup for the first time.)
Doyle is engaged to model and influencer Rebekah Doran, the couple have a daughter, Aurora, who was born in June 2025.[34]
