Tommy (NURP.41.DHZ56) was a pigeon who received theDickin Medal in 1946 from thePeople's Dispensary for Sick Animals for bravery in service during theSecond World War.[1] Tommy was cited for delivering a valuable message from theNetherlands toLancashire during difficult conditions while serving with theNational Pigeon Service in July 1942.[2]
