Tomasz Berkieta (Polish: [ˈtɔmaʐ bɛrˈkʲɛta] ; born 21 July 2006) is a Polish professionaltennis player. He has a career-highATP singles ranking of No. 533, achieved on 18 August 2025 and a doubles ranking of No. 646, achieved on 28 July 2025.[ 1]
Berkieta reached a bestITF junior combined ranking of No. 6 on 8 July 2024.
Early life and background [ edit ] Berkieta was born inWarsaw to Kamil Berkieta and Magdalena Sawicka.[ 2] [ 3] His mother is a tennis coach who played the sport until the age of 16, when she had to retire due to injury.[ 4] [ 5]
While volunteering as a ball boy at the2013 Davis Cup World Group play-offs , Berkieta was hit in the stomach by a 230 km/h (140 mph) serve fromNick Kyrgios and had to exit the court.[ 6]
He is currently coached byPiotr Sierzputowski , the former coach ofIga Świątek ,[ 3] and trains at theLegia Tennis Centre in Warsaw.[ 7]
In January 2022, Berkieta reached the semifinal of the J4Eintracht Frankfurt event.[ 8] The following month, he won his maidenITF Junior title at the J5 DeSki Warsaw Cup. He also won the doubles title withPiotr Czaczkowski .[ 9] In March, he won back-to-back titles at the J4Ādaži Open and the J4 Aphrodite Cup inNicosia .[ 10] [ 11] He later reached the final of the J3 Croatia Open inČakovec and the J3 Charlie Berszakiewicz Memorial tournament inKraków .[ 12] He won his final title of the year in September, at the J2 Al-Solaimaneyah Junior Tournament inCairo .[ 13]
Berkieta made his junior Grand Slam debut at the2023 Australian Open , where he reached the semifinal insingles .[ 14] He lost in the first round of theFrench Open ,[ 15] but reached the quarterfinal atWimbledon .[ 16] In October 2023, he won the J200 event inVigo [ 17] and reached the final of the J300 event inSanxenxo .[ 18]
At the2024 Australian Open , he recorded a 233 km/h (145 mph) serve, the fastest serve of the tournament.[ 19] [ 20] Unseeded at theFrench Open , he reached his first junior Grand Slam final with wins overIzan Almazán Valiente , sixth seedHayden Jones , qualifierCharlie Robertson , wildcardMoïse Kouamé , andLorenzo Carboni .[ 21] He lost in the final to fifth seedKaylan Bigun .[ 22]
Professional career [ edit ] In August 2022, Berkieta made hisITF Men's World Tennis Tour main draw debut as a wildcard at the M25Poznań .[ 23] In August 2023, he made hisATP Challenger Tour main draw debut as a wildcard at theKozerki Open .[ 24]
He represented Poland in the2023 Davis Cup World Group II , where he recorded a win overXavier Lawrence of Barbados.[ 6]
