Tom Brabazon (born 1969/1970)[1] is an IrishFianna Fáil politician who has been aTeachta Dála (TD) for theDublin Bay North constituency since the2024 general election.[2]
ADublin City Councillor from 2003 to 2024 for theDonaghmede area,[3] he was elected Deputy Lord Mayor in 2019, and was electedLord Mayor of Dublin in February 2020 following his predecessorPaul McAuliffe's election toDáil Éireann.[4] His term as Lord Mayor ended on 29 June 2020.[5][6]
Brabazon wasco-opted to Dublin City Council in 2003 following the abolition of thedual mandate and was re-elected in2004,2009,2014,2019 and2024.[4][7]
In 2015, Brabazon was criticised for comments inNorthside People onchildbirth andgender quotas,[8][9] but later withdrew and apologised for the remarks.[10]
In 2024, Brabazon was selected to contest the next general election for theDublin Bay North constituency, with councillor Deirdre Heney later being added to the ticket.[11]
At the2024 general election, Brabazon was elected to the Dáil.
