On 18 September 2012, the museum was moved to abedesten (covered market) calledArastalı which was probably built during the reign ofOttoman sultanMehmet I (r.1413-1421).[1] The bedesten is on Sulusokak street in the Camii Kebir quarter[1]
The archaeology section of the museum housesHittiten clay tablets fromMaşat Höyük, a sword from theHellenistic age, and bronze sculptures from theRoman age. The collection includes coins from various civilizations, and especially from the Anatolian Seljuks era. In the ethnographic section, the most important item is the handwrittenKoran of 1191, from the Anatolian Seljuks era. There are also examples of ceramics. Two rooms of the museum exhibit hand-painted kerchief manufacturing and copper works, two of the popular crafts of Tokat during the Ottoman Empire.[2]
